man, this past week has been weird...just like Austin.
on a last minute whim i decided to go out to SXSW2008. i've been putting off a sx trip for a couple years now...something just always seem to be in the way wheater it be school, work or whatever. but this year, i basically said 'fuck it im going!' and thats what i did.

we followed some friends down to sxsw for a week of music, nosie, art and damage!

after about 24 hours in a van along the 10 freeway, sleep deprived, stiff necks, sore legs, a stop thru what felt like a late night gas station cheap horror movie scene and haggard looks later we had made it to Austin. finally. dont get me wrong the drive was alright and everything, the scenery was cool [it was mostly dark out] but it felt great to finally be in one place for the next few days.

on the way we all made a pit stop at this tiny little town called Roosevelt, Texas.
it was way small about a block, yes one city block made up the whole town...pretty much. it was pretty desolate except for the general store. stocked completely full with a nice layer of dust adorning everything including the post office on the wall as well as the beautiful mounted deer and game which were naturally, caught not too far from the stoop of the stores front door!

the one very odd thing about this place was not the deer on the wall, the one easterly wall dedicated to being the official post office, nor the tatse of dusty doritos, it was the front window. two windows to be exact. these windows were filled with band promo posters and stickers. upon walking in i hadn't really paid any attention to it, i see that kinda stuff all the time, just about everywhere so who gives right? wrong! the thing that caught my eye was a promp photo of this band, you may have heard of them...the donnas. you know? yeah you do. if not...oh well, big deal. anyway this photo was from the early 1990's thats what was so weird about it, it looked pretty new still. but anyways i asked the store owner about the windows and she said that every time a band came thru on their way to sxsw over the years they have stuck up a poster and once they did that, like right after they got thier big break or whatever. scary kids scaring kids were up there, the 88, all kinds of familiar faces...it was weird for sure.
